Castellán advises IHC Holland B.V. on contract with the National Ports Administration for the construction of a dredger for 61 million dollars
This Friday, November 11, 2016, the National Ports Administration (ANP) and the company IHC Holland B.V. signed the contract for the construction of a suction dredger at the headquarters of the organization. The Dutch firm was the winner of public tender number 16.513, which aimed at the design and construction of a dredger for the ANP that will be added to the other two it owns, number 7 and number 9 “Alfredo Labadie”. The contract price amounts to 61,076,000 million dollars, the shipbuilding will take a maximum period of two years and must include national labor.

Minister Rossi emphasized that the contract confirms that neither the ANP nor the ministry are considering giving up their own dredging services. He stressed that having their own capabilities provides greater independence and serves as a witness to make decisions. In this sense, he considered that to achieve the best results, an adequate participation of public and private capacities must be sought, without neglecting any of the two options.
The minister also detailed that the ANP will continue to acquire equipment to improve the operation of the national port system and improve the quality of life of the people.
The ship will have a total length of 91 meters, 18 meters wide, and a minimum capacity of 4,200 cubic meters in the hold.
“The project generates employment opportunities and the participation of numerous subsidiary companies,” highlighted the president of the ANP, Alberto Díaz. Díaz pointed out that the new dredger will have a greater capacity than the other two, “but with the characteristic that they still have 18 meters wide which will allow them to beach at the national dock and avoid the need to do it abroad”.
He also considered: “Our staff is accustomed to handling dredgers of these dimensions, they are versatile to work in different points of the port and also prove to be suitable for dredging the Uruguay River”.
In addition to Rossi and Díaz, the other members of the ANP board, the Deputy Secretary of National Defense, Daniel Montiel; and the representative of IHC Holland B.V., Johannes Gertrudis Hesen, were present.
